Gmail finally got Emoticons (or Smiley’s, if you prefer that word). No more emoticon keyboard shortcuts (it continues to support those shortcuts, of course). You can now insert around 79 different email emoticons and around 69 chat emoticons when you click on the “Insert Emoticon” button on the Compose Mail window. Even though the size of those emoticons are not that great to see it clearly it definitely is a start on the right direction. A tooltip on those smiley expressions would also come in handy. I’m sure those are “work-in-progress”.
