True Launch Bar – A Great Quick Launch Bar Replacement

Software

If you actively use the Quick Launch Bar in Windows XP or Windows Vista then you might want to try True Launch Bar.

True Launch Bar is a great utility that extends what Quick Launch Bar does in Windows. It allows you to group your quick launch bar shortcuts so you can accommodate more and organize it better. Also, True Launch Bar lets you extend its basic functionality with plugins which you can download from the True Launch Bar web site. Plugins are available for a wide variety of stuffs including weather, battery life, wireless signal strength, media controls etc. There are different licensing versions of True Launch Bar, Personal, Home, Business and Corporate. For most of the home PC users the Personal version should suffice. True Launch Bar is not free, it costs you from $20 for Personal version to $779 for the Corporate version.

The latest version of True Launch Bar that is out there is version 4.3 and is compatible with Windows Vista.

If you don’t want to spend $$ on an utility like True Launch Bar then there is a free version of a similar tool, Free Launch Bar. Of course, since it’s free, it’s a trimmed down version of True Launch Bar and so you can only expect that certain features of True Launch Bar are not available with Free Launch Bar, for example,

  • Advanced Separators
  • Plugins
  • Virtual Folders
  • Skins and custom colors
  • Overlay images
  • Profiles
  • Live Update
  • Backup and Restore

If you don’t want to spend money on True Launch Bar and can live with what Free Launch Bar offers then Free Launch Bar would also be a decent Quick Launch Bar extender.
