How to find the color of anything on your Windows screen?

Applicable to Windows Vista Applicable to Windows XP

If you are into web development or web design it is just inevitable to find the HTML color code of certain colors that you could make use of in your web works. Of the many tools that you can use I love this simple little tool, Instant Eye Dropper.

Instant Eye Dropper is a tiny little program (852 KB) that once installed will live on your system tray. When invoked, by clicking and holding on the icon on system tray while dragging your mouse, it gives you a tooltip which follows your mouse pointer and all along the way giving you the HTML color code of the colors that it encounters.

As you can see above I just moved my mouse over the DemoGeek.com logo (which is in blue) and Instant Eye Dropper zooms out the portion of the screen under your mouse cursor and tells you the HTML color code for that color. You can just click on the color to get the HTML color code copied to your clipboard.

There are options that you can configure to suite your need of whether to start the tool at system startup or to copy to the clipboard or what format you want the code to be copied and things like that.

It is a great tool that I use all the time to find out about the cool colors that I come across while browsing. Hope you find it useful as well. Go ahead and download Instant Eye Dropper and make use of it to find out about that next cool color.
