Chat with your blog visitors using Google Talk ChatBack

Ever felt the need to provide a way for your blog readers to interact with you directly? If you have a Google account then it’s easily possible with Google Talk ChatBack Badge. It’s very simple and straight-forward. You customize and create a ChatBack badge and grab a piece of HTML code that Google provides. Place the code on your web site and your readers will be able to chat with you directly by just clicking on the badge.
Follow these steps to install Google Talk ChatBack badge to your website,
Step-1:
Visit Google Talk ChatBack Badge page.
Step-2:
Based on if you’ve currently signed into Gmail Chat or Google Talk the page will display the badge that will appear on your website. If you are okay with the default look of the badge you can skip the next step.
Step-3:
Click on the “Edit” link to customize the look and feel of the badge. You can type-in an optional Title. You can change your nickname and you can choose from 6 different predefined styles.
Step-4:
Once you are done with making the changes hit the “Update badge” button and you’ll be able to see the changes go into effect right away on the badge preview on top.
Step-5:
Once you are happy with the look and feel of the badge you can grab the HTML code that’s displayed at the bottom of the page and place it on your web page where you want the chat badge to appear. There are couple of things you can customize on this HTML code to fit your needs.

You can change the width and height of the badge. To change the width, for example, you have to change it in 2 places, the “w” value and the “width” value. The same thing goes for height as well. If you want to change the default values then change it on both the places.

Now when you are online and when a reader tries to talk to you, you’ll get a chat request window pop-up where you can chat with the reader and have an interactive conversation. Keep in mind, that you might be talking to an anonymous person and so be mindful of your privacy. If you have a busy blog and if you think that it’s getting tough to keep up with those chat requests you can just sign out of your Google Talk account or can set predefined times to chat with your visitors.
