Google Dictionary – Simple online dictionary from Google

Google "define:" operator

You might already know the “define:’” operator in Google. It helps you find meaning of any words from Google.com. Just type in “define:” (without the quotes) followed by the word for which you want to find the meaning. Google will search through its list of dictionary providers and will spit out the meanings of the word from all those resources. Even though it is convenient for quick searches, sometimes it is not the ultimate solution.

Google Dictionary with a sample word

Google Dictionary is a dedicated dictionary solution from Google that does pretty much the same job as “define:” but it has more functionalities to translate the word as well. Google Dictionary was part of Google Translate before it was given its own identity. With Google Dictionary you can type in any word you want to find the meaning and can choose the language of the word or you can translate that word to different languages and find the meaning as well.
