Add Google Reader to your Firefox Sidebar
Add Google Reader to Firefox Sidebar with this simple Firefox trick.
Firefox is great and Google Reader is great too. How about bringing Google Reader to the Firefox Sidebar? Firefox has a great Sidebar which would be greatly helpful if you have a widescreen monitor. Why not make use of that space to keep an eye on your Google Reader stories?
Google released an iPhone version of Google Reader which is pretty slick and can be a good candidate to go on the Firefox Sidebar so you don’t have to keep a tab open in Firefox all the time. This would be particularly helpful if you mostly skim thru the headlines in Google Reader.
Follow these simple steps to add Google Reader to your Firefox Sidebar,
Step-1: Organize Bookmarks
Launch Firefox and click on the “Organize Bookmarks…” menu option.
Step-2: Create New Bookmark
When the “Library” window launches click on the “Organize” menu and then click on the “New Bookmark…” menu option.
Step-3: Add the Google Reader iPhone location
When the “Add Bookmark” window pops-up, type-in a name “Google Reader” for example and in the “Location” box type-in “http://www.google.com/reader/i/”. Click on the “Add” button to dismiss the dialog.
That’s all to it. Now you should be able to read all your Google Reader feeds on your Firefox Sidebar. When you come across a feed item that you think is worth reading it thru then you can just click on the feed item and it will expand to display an excerpt of the story. If you’d prefer to read the full story then you can click on the “See original” link to open the story in a new tab.
I hope this simple Firefox trick of adding Google Reader to Firefox Sidebar helps you in some way. If you have any questions/comments regarding this please make sure to let us know in comments.
