Add your location to your Gmail Signature

Location in Gmail signature will help recipients get an idea of the location from where the email was sent.

Gmail Labs released a new feature with which you can add your location to your Gmail signature. Specifying location in your Gmail signature will help the email recipients get an understanding of where the email was sent. Sometimes it’s a helpful feature if you travel much but sometimes your privacy might be at risk. If you are comfortable letting your friends know of your location then follow these simple steps to enable location on your Gmail signature.

Step-1: Navigate to Gmail Labs

Click on the green jar icon on the top right side of the Gmail page to navigate to the Gmail Labs page.

Step-2: Enable “Location in Signature” Settings

Scroll down to locate the “Location in Signature” section. Click on the Enable option.

Navigate to the General tab under Settings.

On the General Settings scroll down to locate the Signature section and make sure to check the “Append your location to the signature” option.

Once done, click on the Save Settings button at the bottom of the Settings page. The next time when you try to compose a new email Gmail will prompt you with the Gears Security Warning dialog. Check the “I trust this site. Allow it to use Gears” option and then click on the Allow button.

Gmail will now append a “Sent from:” to your Gmail signature along with the location from where you sent the email. If you are comfortable letting your friends know of your location when you email then enabling location in your Gmail signature is a great feature.
