Access Google Calendar from Firefox Status Bar with GCal Popup

GCal Popup allows you to access Google Calendar from Firefox Status Bar.

If you are a heavy Google Calendar user you might really like this. I used to dedicate a tab in Firefox for Google Calendar so I can get to it any time. The problem is that I might not need the calendar all the time but I might check the calendar any time. Dedicating a tab for this is acceptable but not preferable.

Now I can make Google Calendar available on Firefox Status Bar with GCal Popup. When I click on the GCal Popup icon it overlays the Firefox browser with a Google Calendar page. Once I’m done with the calendering work I can just dismiss the overlay, given the fact that it’s available any time for me to get to.

Start by installing GCal Popup.

Since GCal Popup is an experimental add-on you might want to make sure that you check the “Let me install this experimental add-on” option. There is no harm in installing experimental add-ons. It might just be a bit unstable at times (may be not, for the most part) but if you are okay with it then proceed further.

Once installed you should be able to see a calendar icon on your Firefox Status Bar (a small Calendar icon as you can see 2nd from left on the screenshot above).

Click on the Calendar icon and GCal Popup will overlay your Firefox browser with a neat little Google Calendar page. It’s a full-fledged page where you can do pretty much of all what you do with Google Calendar.

Go ahead and enjoy the new convenience. If you have any questions/comments regarding GCal Popup please let us know in comments.
