Tasks on Google Calendar

Google Calendar now has Tasks.

If you use Google Calendar you must have surely realized that a Tasks capability on Google Calendar would be a nice thing to have. Well, Google actually listened to our feelings and has released Tasks on Google Calendar lately. They just nicely married Google Calendar Events with Tasks but maintained a clear distinction between those.

To get Tasks on your Google Calendar you don’t have to enable anything, it just comes enabled.

To add a Task on your Google Calendar, you just click on a date as usual or use the Create Event link at the top of the page. The difference that you might be able to notice is that you can now see a Task tab (kind of) at the top. When you click on it Google Calendar will ask you for the Task name, Due date and a Note.

Once you create a task the tasks will show up on the right side of Google Calendar. The Tasks List is pretty basic and simple in terms of what you can do with it. A reminder setup would be nice to have but it’s not there yet.

On the Tasks list pane you can add a task, delete selected tasks, mark tasks as complete (just check the checkbox to mark it as complete), order the tasks etc. along with an Action menu that helps you organize your tasks.

As I’ve said, Tasks in Google Calendar is pretty basic at this time but certainly a nice thing to have. I’m sure there will be an update to this feature in the future that will meet some of our expectations.

I hope you find Tasks in Google Calendar useful. If you have any questions regarding this please let us know in comments.
