Control your iPhone with your voice
iPhone’s Voice Control feature can recognize some of your own words.
These days many phones (smartphones, in particular) support the Voice Control feature with which you can mostly dial a call instead of using the keypad. iPhone, a superior device as it is, can do more than just place a call.

To activate Voice Control press and hold the “Home” key on your iPhone for couple of seconds until you hear a beep. If you use a headset (handsfree) you can press and hold the call button for couple of seconds until you hear the beep sound to activate Voice Control. Once you hear the beep sound you are good to speak to your iPhone.
Once activated you can use Voice Control to call a phone contact, dial a number, control music etc. Here are some of the most frequent uses of iPhone’s Voice Control,
Make a Phone Call
Say “call” or “dial” followed by the person’s name as entered on your iPhone Address Book.
If the contact has more than one phone number on the Address Book you can specify which number to call by saying “home“, “work” or “mobile“.
If you just want to dial a number, you can say “call” or “dial” followed by the number.
Sample usage: “Call John Appleseed Work”, “Dial 7175556666″ etc.
Play Music
Say “play” or “play music”.
Play an Album, Artist or Playlist
Say “play” then say “album”, “artist” or “playlist” and the corresponding name. If you said “play artist” then say the name of the artist.
Sample Usage: “Play Playlist Recently Played”, “Play Artist Michael Jackson”, “Play Album Thriller”
Pause Music
Say “pause” or “pause music”.
Song Navigation
Say “next song” or “previous song”.
Shuffle Current Playlist
Say “shuffle”.
More about the currently playing song
Say “what’s playing”, “what song is this”, “who sings this song” or “who is this song by”.
Use Genius
Say “Genius”, “play more like this” or “play more songs like this”.
To Cancel Voice Control
Say “cancel” or press the Home button again.
Get Help about Voice Control
Say “Help“.
iPhone’s Voice Control can come in real handy when both your hands are tied or when you drive or…(fill-in with any reason). Make sure to pronounce the sentence clear and loud.
