How to make Gmail the default mail client of Firefox?
Change the default mail client of Firefox to Gmail.
If you use Firefox as your preferred browser and Gmail as your email client then you must have found it convenient if Firefox can launch Gmail when you click on any mailto: links. By default Firefox knows nothing about Gmail and so when you click on a link it opens up the default mail client that’s associated with the system, Mail, Entourage, Outlook etc.
So how do you make Firefox launch Gmail instead when you click on any mailto: links? Simple, just customize Firefox to make it use Gmail as the default mail client.

Go to Firefox > Preferences and then navigate to the “Applications” tab. Scroll down to locate the “mailto” entry. Whatever you see on the “Action” column for the “mailto” entry just change that to “Use Gmail“. Close out of the dialogs and go ahead and click on any mailto: links. You should see that it now opens up Gmail’s Compose window for you to conveniently send emails. Isn’t that a simple tweak for a pretty annoying problem?
