Notify – the best Gmail Notifier for Mac OSX

Notify does Gmail notification better than the official Gmail Notifier from Google.

If you are a Gmail addict you must be using the official Gmail Notifier from Google. It does the job of just notifying you of how many unread emails you have in your Gmail inbox. But what if you’d like to glance at what those unread messages are? Notify does the job perfectly.

About Notify.png

Notify is a Mac OSX application that stays on your Mac Menu Bar and indicates you of the unread emails on your Gmail inbox. It goes one step further to show a glimpse of those unread emails so you can decide if you want to hit Gmail or focus on what you are doing.

It’s a very tiny utility (~15 MB) that doesn’t stay on your way much.

It silently stays on the menu bar and could use Growl to notify you of any new messages that you receive on your Gmail inbox along with displaying the unread email count.

When you launch Notify the first time it asks you to configure. When you hit the “Sure” button it takes you to the Settings page.

Or you can use the “Preferences” menu to get to the Settings page.

On the Settings page just click on the “+” button to add a new Gmail account for Notify to keep an eye on. You can add up to 4 Gmail accounts.

Once done, Notify will keep track of your Gmail accounts and will display a consolidated unread email count on the Mac menu bar. Once clicked on, it will show a dropdown list of unread messages at a glimpse. If you’ve set Notify to use Growl then it will show a growl message when new emails arrive at your Gmail inbox.

I find Notify more helpful than the official Gmail Notifier. I hope you find it the same!

only thing is when u click on the preview of the email it still takes u to the log on screen of gmail website where as with the official gmail notifier it auto logs u in and takes u directly to that email in the browser

Really nice software. its helping me a lot but my network administrator applied some firewall settings. These settings are not allowing notify to work. Can anyone please tell me on which port Notify work. I'll ask my network administrator to open that port.
    Thanks in advance.
