Edit pictures in your favorite external picture editor from iPhoto
Learn how to configure iPhoto to use your preferred external image editor for editing pictures.
iPhoto is a great application to keep your pictures well organized on your Mac. Facial tagging is extremely helpful in organizing pictures based on familiar faces. But there might be cases where you must have paid for a third-party picture editing application that you’d prefer to use to edit your pictures.
You can configure iPhoto to use external applications to be used as picture editors. What that means is that you can still use iPhoto to view pictures but when you feel like editing a picture you can use your favorite application from iPhoto to manipulate photos. Configuring iPhoto to use external image editing applications is very easy,

Go to iPhoto “Preferences” and then on the “General” tab. By default, the “Edit Photo” option will have “In main window” chosen.

Change that to use “In application…” and choose the application that you want to use to edit pictures. Dismiss all open dialogs and you are all set to use your favorite photo editing application from iPhoto to edit pictures.
