Simple hack to increase the Download Limit on Internet Explorer 8
Use this simple technique to increase the standard download limit on Internet Explorer 8.
To effectively use your available bandwidth most modern day browsers enforce a limit on concurrent downloads. Internet Explorer 8, for its share, enforces a limit of only allowing 2 concurrent downloads at a time. What that means is that you have to wait till any of the two downloads finish to start another download.
This is well and good if you have a slow internet connection. But if you have a high-speed internet connection and if you know your bandwidth limitations and such, sometimes, it might be useful to increase that download limit. To your rescue, Microsoft makes it a lot easier to increase the download limit.
Just visit this page http://support.microsoft.com/Default.aspx?kbid=282402 and click on the “Fix it” button.
Follow the installation wizard to complete the installation and your Internet Explorer 8 would then be able to allow you to download 10 concurrent downloads. Yes, that true, the wizard only allows you to make a one time change to allow a fixed number of 10 parallel downloads. The number must have been fixed to reduce the abuse but still help a few, that’s just my thought.
So, if you are a fan of Internet Explorer 8 or has been forced to use IE8 (at work) why not make use of this simple hack to get the most out of your downloads?
