I don’t know about you but I’m convinced that when my PC slows down (for whatever reason) defragmenting my hard disks helped a lot in gaining those performance back. At least, defragmentation should be in your toolbox if you are to investigate and resolve a sluggishly performing PC.

The disk defragmentation tools that come with Windows are mostly very minimal in terms of functionalities and really a terrible performer when it comes performance. Sometimes I have experienced overnight defragmentation for a 360 GB hard disk. Many 3rd party software tend to do a decent job in overcoming the shortcomings of the Windows supplied defragmentation application.

O&O Defrag is a professional tool that does a very decent job of defragmenting your hard disks. The latest version (v12) costs $49.95. But if you don’t mind a slightly older version (v10) you can get it for free. Just enter your name and email address to receive a free serial number for O&O Defrag 10 Professional version. Even though it is a bit older version it still does the job decently and best of all it works on all flavors of Windows including Windows 7.

Even if you are not comfortable with any older software versions you can still download O&O Defrag 10 for free and then go for an upgrade to the latest version with around 40% off.

So, what are you waiting for? Go grab the free version of O&O Defrag 10 Professional Edition.

Thanks for the link, I have installed on my Windows 7 64bit machine and it works fine without any problem. My computer is much faster too I must have fragmented it to much.
