Twitter is following the Facebook style of indicating you of new tweets. What that means is that you don’t have to refresh the page to see new tweets.

It also indicates the number of available new tweets on the title bar (tab bar). I’m not sure if how many of you still get to the Twitter home page to tweet but if you do then you’ll soon realize that this minor change would be a welcome change.

Google is revamping most of its apps to the look of Google Wave.

Windows 7 gets its first critical update to fix Internet Explorer 8 security issue.

Windows 7 is out on the public hands just for few days now and it has already got a critical update. The cumulative patch is mostly to fix a security issue with Internet Explorer 8 that shipped with Windows 7.

According to Microsoft,

This security update resolves three privately reported vulnerabilities and one publicly disclosed vulnerability in Internet Explorer. The vulnerabilities could allow remote code execution if a user views a specially crafted Web page using Internet Explorer. Users whose accounts are configured to have fewer user rights on the system could be less impacted than users who operate with administrative user rights. Firefox users who are running the Windows Presentation Foundation (WPF) plug-in and do not have it disabled should also apply this security update.

New Yahoo Mail interface looks more polished than the previous version.

Here are some screenshots of the new Yahoo Mail that I noticed lately. The interface looks more polished and usable than the earlier versions. The email list page is more readable with enough line spacing. The buttons look more chrome’ish. There are Application shortcuts on the sidebar that launches most of the apps on a new window.

On the flip side the sidebar advertisement is more intrusive and there is no option to hide the advertisement.

Overall, the new look of Yahoo Mail looks much better than the earlier versions.

Google Chrome celebrated its first birthday today, Sep 2, 2009.

On Sep 2, 2008 – exactly one year ago – Google Chrome was launched with a comic book announcement that stir quite a bit of frenzy over the web. Today, on its first birthday, Google is celebrating it with Chrome Cakes and Chrome Balloons along with some interesting stats,

Earlier we’ve seen some screenshots of what claimed to be Google Chrome OS screenshots. Lately there are further more screenshots of what it claims to be Google Chrome OS’s.

These screenshots pretty sync with those earlier ones but with a sidebar that boasts bigger icons (unreasonably much bigger icons). Who knows may be it’s customizable to fit the screen real-estate.

Microsoft launched Office.com for Microsoft Office Online works.

It was news when Microsoft bought the catchy Office.com domain for an undisclosed amount. But then there were all sort of expectations on what Microsoft is going to do with the more contextual extension. Well, Microsoft made its first attempt to bring the domain name to life by redirecting it to the Microsoft Office Online website.

As for what would be the ultimate target for Office.com, it could be hosting the web version of a light-weight Office suite of applications, similar to Google Docs.

See what the upcoming Google Chrome OS might look like with these screenshots.

Who knows if this is real or not! But certainly, personally I don’t want this to be real as there are bunch of things I don’t like with what seems to be a leaked screenshots of the still cooking Google Chrome OS.

My first turn-off is the fact that I see a bunch of the precious screen real-estate being wasted. I know white-spaces are the rule of the Web 2.0 world and beyond. But not on a Netbook screen where space is precious.

Second turn-off is the close clone of the Mac OSX Dock. Instead of being at the bottom of the screen it’s at the top. I don’t know what else it would do (read “Chrome Awesome Bar”) but by looking at it, it certainly looks like it’s just another dock that might be customizable.

I still hope that these are not real screenshots but who knows! Just enjoy it while the rumor-mill lasts!

One of the most demanding feature that’s not shipping with Facebook 3.0 is the Push Notifications. But there is a workaround to get Facebook Push Notifications on your iPhone.

Amazon takes pre-order of Zune HD.

Back in May 2009 Microsoft announced the availability of Zune HD, the next generation portable media player from Microsoft. It has a 16:9 OLED display with 480×272 screen resolution, HD Radio, HD Video Output, Wi-Fi, Web Browser and a QWERTY Soft Keyboard among the many new features.

Zune HD will be available in the US this fall. But Amazon is now taking pre-orders of Zune HD. There are 2 versions of Zune HD available for pre-order at Amazon,

• Zune HD 32 GB (Platinum) – Price: $289.99

Apple silently pushed the last Mac OSX Leopard update 10.5.8

With Snow Leopard pre-orders in the loom it looks like Apple has just silently pushed what it looks like the last Mac OSX Leopard update. It’s versioned to be 10.5.8 and it has quite a few features that are not very visible to the end user but some are critical.

Here is a list of what gets out with the latest Leopard update 10.5.8,

• Upgrades Safari to version 4.0.2.
• Improves the accuracy of full history search in Safari 4.
• Resolves an issue in which certain resolutions might not appear in the Display pane in System Preferences.
• Dragging an Aperture image into Automator now invokes an Aperture action instead of incorrectly invoking an iPhoto action.
• Resolves an issue that could prevent importing of large photo and movie files from digital cameras.
• Improves overall Bluetooth reliability with external devices, USB webcams and printers.
• Addresses an issue that could cause extended startup times.
• Improves iCal reliability with MobileMe Sync and CalDav.
• Addresses data reliability issues with iDisk and MobileMe.
• Improves overall reliability with AFP.
• Improves overall reliability with Managed Client.
• Improves compatibility and reliability for joining AirPort networks.
• Improves Sync Service reliability.

And, we are back!
